Project

ABERIGUA (Archaeology of Iberian Cultural Contact and Colonialism in Guåhån and Manislan Mariånas) investigates the impact that Spanish colonization had on native Chamorus. To this goal, the project studies subsequent processes of cultural change and persistence with a special focus on everyday life, the construction of gender, and the active role of material culture in the new situation of colonial domination.
